Construction - 18m MV Maureen

The vessel is built with an oak backbone comprising stem wood keel stern post and hog and with grown oak framing at 400mm centres and with Iroko beam shelves and bilge stringers. The frames extend above deck to carry the high bulwark planking. The deck is of Iroko planking laid in traditional fashion on oak beams and with the deck seams payed and caulked.

Steel watertight bulkheads are provided forward and aft of the engine compartment. The engine is mounted on a steel girder structure through fastened to the timber framing. The deckworks comprise of a forward wheelhouse with after deckhouse fabricated in steel with cast yellow metal framed windows. The deckhouse roof provides an upper deck where an inflatable boat is stowed and this has a new electric winch.
