The main engine is a Volvo Penta TMD122A six-cylinder turbo-charged marine diesel of 235kW. The engine was installed new, it is understood, in 1999 and is coupled to a Twin Disc 514 hydraulically operated marine gearbox which incorporates 4.5:1 reduction gearing.  Engine hours confirmed by Skipper and Engineer as being just over 4,000 recorded hours. The engine is carried on solid mounts on steel bearers and is fitted with various auxiliary drives including bilge pump, twin alternators and with front end auxiliary drive for the hydraulics system.

A dry exhaust arrangement is installed, lagged and contained within a steel casing lead through to the funnel on the deckhouse top. The engine hours logged to date are not known as the hours counter on the tachometer was inoperative when the vessel was purchased by the present owner. Two steel fuel tanks, each with a capacity of 2000 litres, are arranged at the forward end of the engine compartment with the usual balance pipe arrangements.

The stern gear comprises of a tailshaft and intermediate shaft with a four-bladed propeller. The bearing on the intermediate shaft at the after engine room bulkhead has been replaced during refit. The stern gland has been dismantled, and examined during the refit and found to be satisfactory.

A new G&M diesel driven, single phase generator is installed with Lister engine of 12kW continuous rating at 1500rpm. It is installed in the engine room with distribution boxes for the AC system arrayed on the aft bulkhead of the compartment to provide single phase to service a 230 volt ring mains throughout the accommodation. The generator can be started from the helm display.
